I first tried yoga 25 years ago, following a back injury, and have been enjoying many different styles of yoga ever since, resulting in improvements in my flexibility and back health as a result.
I don't consider myself especially flexible, I get stressed like everyone else, I get angry like everyone else, I'm not vegan, I wobble when doing balancing postures, but I know that Yoga has helped me find stillness and courage to deal with the demands of life!
I qualified as a Dru Yoga teacher in 2013, and divide my time between teaching yoga, working as a Weleda Wellbeing Advisor and my job as a Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS. I am passionate about maintaining a healthy life-work balance and reducing the effects of today's stressful lifestyle by providing Dru Yoga classes for my local community.
Dru Yoga has a gentle, flowing style, with Energy Block Release sequences and familiar traditional yoga postures. Every class closes with a deep relaxation, and classes may include breathing techniques or meditation.
I teach mixed ability classes in Belper which are suitable for beginners or more experienced students.
I also teach corporate yoga, by request, and can offer the Dru Healthy Back Programme packages to employers for their staff.
I have a special interest in therapeutic yoga, having completed the Dru Back Care Foundation Course, and always give modifications for poses so every student can join in, whatever their age or ability! As a general rule, students need to be able to get down to the floor and back up again.
